I started this blog to post drawings that wouldn’t make it to my flickr - or wouldn’t make it there in a timely manner (because sometimes I want to space out my drawing postings there) Plus, it gives me the opportunity to talk about the research I do that goes into it -the inspirations behind images that I draw (even those that fail, and there are a LOT of those) and just plain back-story, which is another thing I don’t do often on my flickr.
Because, there’s sometimes a lot of background in a drawing, that doesn’t necessarily come across.
I’ll try to keep the work I post here recent.
I’ve worked in many different mediums - pencil, pen, pastel, colored pencil, a little gouache, and now I’m trying my hand at watercolors.
I’m (obviously, if you’ve looked at the blog) fond of nineteenth-century subjects, but I occasionally delve into other periods. After learning basic perspective drawing principles (and by that I mean the type of perspective where you graph out lines and all that kind of fun stuff.) I’ve been trying to introduce more architecturally focused drawings, which I hope to show off here.
So - now the little bit about me: I’m twenty-four, and live on the Space Coast of not-so-sunny Florida. I (obviously) draw, write (badly), I do photography, and I dabble in graphic and jewelry design now and then.
