Kodak No. 2 Beau Brownie, Walter Dorwin Teague, 1930-1933.
Photo by yours truly. And in the collection of the same.
I got my Beaubie from a person on Flickr, who messaged me about it after seeing my profile there, where I basically had a “wanted” type ad. He was really nice, and it had been in his family for a while, and he wanted it to go to somebody who would love it. We chatted for a bit, and after I made an offer to buy the camera, he accepted and the transaction was made. It’s a buy I have never regretted, and never will. Because LOOK at it…
It has another name it goes by, the camera, and that is Ruth or Ruthie, as the camera originally belonged to the great aunt (I think it was great aunt) of the person who sold it to me. She lived out in rural Kansas, and bought the camera ca 1930, using it everywhere until the 1950s, from what I remember. It sat on her nightstand after that, and then was put in storage, until it was unearthed and, basically bought by me.
While I’ve not been able to use the camera with the same regularity as Ruth had used it, it has gone on a few trips with me, and gone through a few rolls of film. It’s going to see a LOT of Philadelphia I think, this coming trip. That makes me happy - as it’s always fun taking it out for a spin.
