Fernandina, Florida, 2008
Lots of photography is planned in Philadelphia. There’s supposed to be some pretty varying weather conditions during my stay - including Thursday afternoon I pick up my best friend, coming down from NY at 30th Street station. It’s forecast to rain (earlier today it said snow.) HOPEFULLY it will be a nice photogenic rain, and not an utter downpour.
What I’m getting at (admittedly in a roundabout way) is that while thinking about all this, I noted my flickr stats showed this as one of my most viewed photos today. It’s one of my most favorite photos I’ve ever taken - on a hazy morning in Fernandina, Florida. At a distance, the haze was heavy enough to reduce the enormous paper pulp plant across the bay from the city to mere silhouettes. This is one of the few photos of mine I actually want to make a big print of to hang on the wall. I hope Thursday’s rain is a nice misty one - that way it can produce shots like the Fernandina one.
