Real photo post card of a blue-eyed moustached man sitting in a rocking chair within a wallpapered parlor, ca 1910.
From my personal collection - it was kind of the immediacy of this image that connected with me. Plus the blurred wallpaper. I really love this type of real photo post card image: outside of the photographer’s studio at the dawn of the age of the amateur photographer, when people were running about with little box and bellows cameras photographing their friends and what struck their fancy - perhaps the most candid look at the early-twentieth century you can get.

DO YOY WANT WHISKERS?
Cabinet portrait of a man by S. E. Wilbur, South Oil City, Pennsylvania, ca 1885.
I found this cabinet portrait in South Carolina last week, for a dollar. I rather like him. I wouldn’t rule out that this could have been taken in the early 1890s, as the collar feels rather 90s to me, but the suit, says late 1880s.
